JOINTS

JOINTS
  • Joints are classified by the their structure and by the manner of articulation between the bones that they link.
  • Fixed or slightly movable joints, such as between the vertebrae within the spine, are held in place by fibrous tissue(ligaments) or cartilage. 
  • In synovial joints, articulating bone surfaces are enclosed within a fibrous capsule, and covered with smooth cartilage, allowing more flexible movement.






  • Joints are the areas where two or more bones meet. Most joints are mobile, allowing the bones to move.Joints consist of the following: Cartilage. A type of tissue that covers the surface of a bone at a joint.
