MOM WHAT'S DOC DOING TO ME???


INTRODUCTION:
  • Babies need basic care to help ensure their survival and well being.
  • This basic care is called Essential Newborn Care (ENC) and includes:
  1. Immediate care at birth
  2. Care during the first day
  3. Care up to 28 days
1. Immediate care at birth:
  • Step:1- Dry and stimulate the baby
  • Step: 2- Assess the baby's breathing and color
  • Step: 3- Decide if the baby needs resuscitation
  • Step: 4- Tic and cut the cord
  • Step: 5- Place the baby in skin to skin contact with mother.
  • Step: 6- Have the mother start breast feeding.
  • Step: 7- Give eye care.
2. Care during first day:

Assess the baby:
  • Assess every 30 minutes to 1 hour for at least 6 hours or until the newborn is stable and stays warm and pink.
  • Check the baby during the first day for the following.
Breathing:
  • The normal baby breathes 30 - 60 times a minute with no gasping, grunting, or in-drawing of the chest.
Warmth:
  • Check if the baby is warm.
  • Use a thermometer to take an Axillar temperature or feel the baby's abdomen or back with your hand and compare his temperature to that of a well baby.
Color:
  • Check that the tongue, lips and mucous membranes are pink or else in color.
Bleeding:
  • Check the cord for bleeding.
  • As the cord dries, the tie may become loose.
  • If the tie is loose, put on gloves and tie the cord again tightly.
  • Assessment of the baby on the first day also includes a complete history an physical examination.
  • Keep the baby warm
  • Continue to keep the baby in skin to skin contact with the mother.
  • Cover both mother and baby with a blanket.
  • Cover the baby's head with a cloth or hat.
  • Support breast feeding.
  • Give Vitamin K (1 mg Intra-Muscular), the first immunizations (BCG, OPV0) and complete the baby's and mother's records.


3.Care of the new born during the first 28 days:
  • See the baby at 2-3 days, 7 days and 28 days after birth.
  • If  a mother and family are worried about their baby or there is a problem, see them more often.
  • During these visits
  1. Assess the baby and mother for problems.
  2. Praise the family for the good care they give.
  3. Continue to educate and counsel the mother and family on baby care.
  4. check mother for post-partum problems.
Check mother for:
  • Bleeding heavier than her normal menses.
  • Successful breast feeding. Watch the mother breastfeed the baby and check her breasts for any problems.
  • Signs of infection: fever, tender uterus or foul smelling discharge from perineum.
  • Continue to educate and counsel the mother on recognizing cancer signs for herself and her baby and the need for good nutrition.
  • Extra rest, and child spacing.

HOW TO REMOVE DARK CIRCLES?




INTRODUCTION:
  • Generally dark circles seen under the eyes, which is sensitive skin of our body.
  • It is big problem for our generations, they are more concerns about it.
  • And shows your aging process, so because of that some times we don't want to have dark circles.
  • These are results of stress, sleep deprivation, vitamin deficiency, iron deficiency, sun exposure, smoking, chemical used, weakness, etc.
  • Dark circles are not serious but they make our face look unlikely and pale.
  • So, here some are home remedies to remove or to get rid of from dark circles.


HONEY:🍯
  • Honey is one of the nature's gift which we simple own from anywhere.
  1. Apply raw and pure honey on the dark circles.
  2. Massage your skin for about 2 minutes.
  3. Use wet fingertips.
  4. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  5. Wash it with cold water.
  6. Add under eye moisturizer.
  7. Repeat daily till visible results are attained.


COLD TEA BAGS:🍵
  • The caffeine present in tea bags shrinks blood vessels and reduces fluid retention.
  • This makes the skin around your eyes look vibrant and glowing.
  1. Take 2 already soaked tea bags and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove and place them on each eye for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Rinse with cold water and repeat 1-3 times a day to see effective results.


MINT LEAVES:
  • Mint leaves contain menthol that improves blood circulation and soothes and rejuvenates skin.
  • The vitamin C in mint makes the skin around the eyes appear brighter.
  1. Make your own mask by blending mint leaves.
  2. Apply them on affected area.
  3. Leave it for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse it.

MILK:🥛
  • Milk contains vitamin A and B-6, which help build new skin cells.
  • The vitamin B-12 in milk naturally lightens dark skin.
  • The selenium in milk protects skin from harmful free radicals and sun damage.
  1. soak two cotton pads in cold milk and squeeze out excess.
  2. Place the cotton pads on the eyes covering the dark circles.
  3. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water.
  4. Repeat thrice a week.



TOMATO:🍅
  • Tomatoes are natural bleaching agents.
  • They contains antioxidants that reduce discoloration round the eyes.
  1. Extract tomato juice and mix ½ tsp of lemon juice and 2 tsp of gram flour to it.
  2. Apply the paste under the eyes.
  3. Leave for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with cold water.

  • World Malaria Day is celebrated internationally every year on 25th April.
  • And also recognizes global efforts to control malaria.
  • 429 K deaths in 2015- 70% of malaria deaths occur in children under 5.
  • 90% of cases from Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • 212 million cases worldwide in 2015.
MALARIA:
  • Malaria is a life threatening blood disease caused by parasites that are transmitted to humans via the bite of an infected Anopheles Mosquitoes.
MOSQUITO HUBS:
  • Empty coconut shells

  • Open water tanks
  • Vessels containing water


SYMPTOMS:

  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Muscular pain
  • Backache
  • Chills 
  • Sweating
  • Dry cough
  • Enlargement of Spleen
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting


WHAT DOES MALARIA FEELS LIKE?
  • It starts with a quick, painless bite from a mosquito carrying the malaria parasite.
  • Within minutes the parasites travels to the liver.
  • First symptoms are flu-like: headache, fever, nausea, etc.

IF UNTREATED, LEAD TO:
  • Severe Anemia
  • Respiratory distress
  • Brain infection Liver failure
  • Shock
  • Coma
  • Seizures

PREVENTION:
  • Treated mosquito nets are the simplest, most effective way to prevent malaria.
  • 23% reduction in malaria deaths reported among those using mosquito nets.
  • Ensure there are no breeding grounds for mosquitoes
  • Beware of bites during the day
  • Wear full sleeves
  • Use mosquito nets
  • Dengue symptoms, similar to that of viral fever
  • See the doctor if fever lasts for 48 hours.
  • Check platelet count
  • Stay inside when it is dark outside
  • Use insect repellent
  • Use aerosol insecticides in your home
  • Keep the water container covered.

EDUCATION:

  • Compassion makes sure each family who receives a net also receives an education.
  • How to use the net
  • How often to replace it
  • How to gt rid of mosquito breeding areas- puddles, standing water, etc.

TREATMENT:
  • When a child contracts malaria, compassion acts immediately.
  • A child suffering from malaria will receive:
  • Anti-malaria drugs
  • IV medication
  • Transfusions
  • Breathing treatments
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT MOSQUITOES WHICH CAUSES MALARIA:
  • Malaria is a serious, sometimes fatal disease that is spread by mosquitoes who have been infected by a parasites.
  • Malaria breeds mostly in warmer climates, where there is an abundance of humidity and rain.
  • About 90% of malaria related deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • The majority of those affected are children under the age of five.
  • Common side effects of malaria are high fever, chills, headache, and other flu like symptoms.
  • An infected person may start feeling symptoms anywhere from a week to a month after they are bitten.
  • In 2012, 207 million clinical cases of malaria were recorded.
  • 627,000 cases were fatal.
  • Pregnant women are extremely vulnerable to malaria.
  • If it is contracted during pregnancy, it can be passed to the infant.
  • Travelers coming from areas without malaria often have no immunity and are very vulnerable to the illness.
  • Malaria is not a contagious disease.
  • It can not be contracted through contact with an infectious person, sexually or otherwise.
  • Snow White's seven Dwarfs were enlisted in a propaganda war on malaria.
  • Thousands die every year from taking fake anti-malaria drugs.
  • Drinking beer could increase your chances of infection.

  • As we all are familiar with the word HIV-AIDS.
  • HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus
  • AIDS - Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome
  • HIV is a virus, where AIDS is a syndrome.
  • AIDS is a syndrome caused by HIV.
  • Meanwhile, AIDS is just a syndrome that occurs after HIV, so we have to prevent HIV to spread.

HISTORY:
  • 1981 - A rare pneumonia - Pneumocystis carinii - in young gay men is later found to be AIDS related
  • 1982 - The CDC introduces the term Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. (AIDS)
  • 1984 - A retrovirus- later called Human Immunodeficiency Virus(HIV) is found to cause AIDS.
  • 1985 - Ryan white, a teenage who got HIV blood products used to treat hemophilia, is refused entry to school due to fear of infection.
  • 1985 - Actor Rock Hudson dies of AIDS related illness.
  • 1987 - FDA approves the first anti retro-viral drug, AZT.
  • 1987 - And the Band Played On, journalist Randy Shilts book about the AIDS epidemic, is published.
  • 1991 - The red ribbon becomes the symbol of AIDS awareness.
  • 1991 - Basketball player Earvin 'Magic' Johnson announces that he is HIV positive.
  • 1991 - New York City Board of Education votes to distributes condoms in public high schools.
  • 1993 - AIDS becomes the no.1 cause of death for Americans ages 25 to 44, Philadelphia is the first major Hollywood film about AIDS.
  • 1996 - HIV/AIDS researcher Dr. David Ho is named TIME Magazine's "Man of the year".
  • 2011 - AIDS activist and amfAR co-founder Elizabeth Taylor dies.
  • 2013 - President Obama signs the HIV Organ Policy Equity Act, which allows people living with HIV to receive organs from other HIV- positive donors.
FACTS:
  • ART ( Anti Retro-viral Therapy) can reduce the amount of HIV in the blood to such a low level that it's actually undetectable.
  • Around 1 in 5 Asians living with HIV in the United States do not know they have it.
  • You can't get HIV from closed mouth or "social" kissing.
  • You can do casual contact with someone living with HIV.
  • HIV is not spread by hugging, shaking hands, sharing toilets or sharing dishes.
  • You can't get HIV from consuming food handled by a person with HIV.
  • No required for social isolation to a HIV positive person.

WHAT IS AIDS(ACQUIRED IMMUNODEFICIENCY SYNDROME)?


WHAT IS AIDS (ACQUIRED IMMUNODEFICIENCY SYNDROME)?



  • AIDS is a viral disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and characterized by generalized dysfunction of the immune system.
  • Which destroys T cells, thereby increasing susceptibility to infection and malignancy.
  • AIDS is the most advance stage of HIV.
  • The syndrome is manifested clinically by opportunistic infection and unusual neoplasms.
  • AIDS is considered as chronic illness.
  • The disease has a long incubation period, sometimes 10 year or longer.
  • Manifestations may not appear until late in the infection.

PROGRESSION TO AIDS FROM  HIV:

The risk of HIV progressing to AIDS varies widely between individuals and depends on many factors, including:
  • The age of the individual.
  • The body's ability to defend against HIV.
  • Access to high quality, sanitary health care.
  • The presence of other infections.
  • The individual's genetic inheritance resistance to certain strain of HIV.
  • Drug resistance strains of HIV.

SYMPTOMS OF AIDS:
  • In the early stage, a short "flu-like" illness often described as "Worst Flu Ever" within few weeks after HIV infection.
  • HIV is most contagious during first stage.

The initial symptoms of acute HIV infection may include:
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Fatigue 
  • Muscle Aching
  • Sore throat
  • Red rash that doesn't itch. usually on the torso
  • Fever

Second Stage of HIV- Asymptomatic Period:
  • After the first stage, HIV continues and goes in to the second stage that is called as Asymptomatic Period (long period without any symptoms).
  • In this stage, HIV infection produces at very low level, although it is still active.
Advanced and last stage of HIV- that is "AIDS":
  • Encephalitis
  • Meningitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Tuberculosis
  • Tumors
  • Esophagitis
  • Chronic diarrhea
The last symptoms of AIDS may include:
  • Cough and shortness of breath
  • Soaking night sweats
  • Seizures and lack of coordination
  • Difficult or painful swallowing 
  • Mental symptoms such as confusion and forgetfulness
  • Severe and persistent diarrhea
  • Extreme and unexplained tiredness
  • Sores of the mouth, anus, or genitals
  • Nausea, abdominal cramps, and vomiting
  • Rapid weight loss and extreme fatigue'Severe headaches with neck stiffness


INTERVENTIONS:
  • Provide respiratory support
  • Administer oxygen and respiratory treatments as per need.
  • Provide Psycho social support as needed.
  • Maintain fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Monitor for signs of infection.
  • Prevent the spread of infection.
  • Initiates standard and other necessary precautions.
  • Provide comfort as necessary.
  • Provide meticulous skin care.
  • Provide adequate nutritional support as needed.
  • Teach methods of transmission of HIV as well as it's prevention.
  • Teach the importance of using safe condoms if intercourse is planned.
