EYE
- The human eye is contained in a bony socket in the skull.
- Light rays that enter the pupil are focused by the cornea and lens to forms an image o the retina.
- it is reacting to light and pressure, as a source organ, the mammalian eye allows vision.
- A human eye allows three dimensional, moving image, normally colored in day light.
- These images are converted into electrical impulses, which are transmitted along the optic nerve to the brain.
- The organ of sight in humans and other animals.
- The human eye can differentiate between about 10 million colors, and is possibly capable of detecting a single photon.
- light detecting organ in some invertebrates.
- EYEBALL- The ball of the eye within the lids and socket.
- EYELASH- Each of the hairs growing on the edges of the eyelids.
COMPONENTS-
The eye has 3 layers:
- The outermost layer- fibrous tunic (composed of cornea and sclera)
- The middle layer- vascular tunic or uvea (composed of choroids and cilliary body, pigmented epithellium, iris)
- The innermost layer- retina (which gets its oxygenation from the blood vessels of the choroid as well as the retinal vessels)
